The Wizard of Oz

Stirling High School will be staging the classic musical “The Wizard of Oz”, running from 8-12 March at the Guild Theatre. The lead actors in the show are:  From L-R:  Daniel Anderson (the brainless Scarecrow), Robin Castle (the heartless Tinman), Ethan Petzer (the cowardly Lion) and Shayla Oberem as Dorothy. The supporting cast is made up of Tarryn Green (Wicked Witch of the West); Tayla Crocker (Glinda – the Good Witch of the North) and the Wizard of Oz will be played by Divan Venter.

Stirling Schools Hockey Astro

The official opening of the Stirling Schools Hockey Astro Turf took place on Friday 26 February.  The Guest Speaker was Bronwyn Kretzmann who was Head Girl of both schools and is making waves in South African Hockey.  

Athletics Day

Inter-house Athletics day took place on Tuesday, 16 February at the Jan Smuts Stadium.  Well done to every student who participated in the event.  It was a great day filled with Stirling spirit!  

Aquatics Day

The annual Interhouse Aquatics Day took place on Tuesday 2 February at the Joan Harrison Swimming Complex.  Pic:  Emlynn Spogter and Tayla-Jade van Huyssteen (both selected for the SA Synchronised Swimming Team that competed in Perth, Australia last year) performing a routine for the school.  

Rugby: Sakoyisa Makata

Stirling High School Grade 11 athlete, Sakoyisa Makata represented the Border U17A at the Inter-provincial Sevens in Paarl from 2-3 October. He has been invited to the South African U18 High Performance Squad which consists of 40 boys that have been earmarked across South Africa that will get together in Stellenbosch from 6-10 December. These boys will have the inside lane for the SA Schools Team and the SA U18 7's side that will tour to Dallas, Texas in the USA later in 2016.

Biathle & Triathle

3 Stirling athletes competed at the Biathle and Triathle World Championships in Batumi, Georgia. Triathle: Youth B Boys (U/17) Teko Khetsi 15th in the Finals, and was part of the South African Team that won a silver medal. Youth B Girls (U/17) Tara Schwulst 6th in the Finals, and was part of the South African Team that won a silver medal.  Biathle: Youth C Girls (U/15) Sheree Brandt 11th in the Semi-finals. Siya Makuzeni - Top jazz artist / ex-Stirling pupil

Siya Makuzeni will be returning to her home town and alma mater on Friday 2 October where she will be performing with top South African jazz outfit - Marcus Wyatt & Language 12 - at the Stirling Auditorium.  Siya was a top member of the Stirling Big Band playing trombone and later venturing into jazz vocals and studied music at Rhodes University and Pretoria Technikon.  She is an in-demand vocalist in South Africa known for her incredible range and creative tonalities.  For more information visit www.stirlinghsmusic.co.za

Vocal Celebration

The Vocal Celebration took place on 20 August in the Stirling Auditorium.  A feast of vocal items were presented by Stirling High School and guest performers were The Grens & Cambridge High School Vocal Groups.
